Find Out More About Dr Jack Paterson

What is your role?

My role as a Dr of Chiropractic is so much more than the reputation of just being a spine and musculoskeletal specialist. My actual role is to ensure that your nervous system is functioning as close to 100% as it can ideally 100%. We achieve this by very specifically adjusting the joints of the spine and limbs, essentially my job is to open the doors that allow your body to heal itself so you can function as best as possible allowing you to live a fulfilling and free and happy life.

What does your day-to-day look like?

My day to day always starts with a pre-shift team meeting, the aim for this is to, as a team, focus our minds on providing the best care for our clients as we can. After this meeting I go over the cases for each and every client that I will see on that day manifesting positive outcomes for them all. Once the clinic doors open, my mind is focused on giving my best to every client, whether I am using the art of adjusting, meeting someone for the first time in an initial consultation, or providing a report of findings, (answering the 4 big juicy questions we are all thinking about, say them? what do I have, can it be corrected, how long will it take and how much will it cost) Whatever your problem is, I’ll be here 5 days a week to serve you to the best of my ability.

What are the problems you help clients solve?

Throughout my time at life balance, our team has helped correct problems for our clients that they didn’t think were possible to correct from chiropractic. Whether it be problems with sleeping, debilitating headaches and migraines, digestive issues, stroke recovery, sciatica or breathing issues. Anywhere the nerves go to in the body, we have the potential to improve and correct problems.

How long have you been in this position?

I have been in this position for 3 weeks, but I have been studying chiropractic for over 5 years and I have been practice for over a year, being awarded intern of the month out of 160 interns during my clinical placement.

What makes you well-suited for this role?

I have developed a nurturing and empathetic side that I never shy away from, my friends often say I have a labrador like personality. I believe I was put on this earth to help others, and the perfect storm that led to me becoming a chiropractor reinforces this belief everyday.

Why do you love your job?

I love my job because I am surrounded by positivity each and every shift, and I get the opportunity to pass this positivity on to everyone I meet (maybe talk about what Bj palmer and the big idea). I also love my job because helping someone enjoy their life again doesn’t feel anything like a job.

What’s the most fulfilling part?

The most fulfilling part of being a chiropractor to me, is being that person who is always there to help those who want and need it. To me there is no better feeling than going on a journey with someone and working together to achieve their desired outcomes or getting as close to achieving them as we can.

What do you think the customer experience should be like?

I think the customer experience should feel like a premium service that they look forward to. Also to not only feel like they are a priority, but to also feel like they are well taken care of and in good hands that they know they can trust. Finally, for the client to feel like they are taking an active role in their care, not just tagging along for the ride.

Their life outside of work

Outside of work, being out in nature is my happiest place, I love walking around the New Forest, or any forest/woods that I can find and get a surge of energy from the sights and smells. I believe this love for nature stems from many different places, building dens as a boy with my younger brother and dad, to my love for dogs, seeing the excitement and joy it brings them to be released out in nature makes me feel excited, of course being a huge lover of the lord of the rings and the hobbit being out in nature makes me feel like i am a hobbit going out on my own little adventure

This also leads to another hobby of mine, as far back as I can remember I have always enjoyed the thrill of climbing. Although this has mostly been trees that I challenge myself to climb during a walk, being based in Poole I’m now excited to become a member at the climbing center.

From my dad I also have a love for cycling, especially biking to new places because it is another thing that gives me that sense of adventure.

I also play guitar, although self-taught and not very well I can play the parts of songs I like the most, predominantly AC/DC. I love miniature hobbying, Airfix and Warhammer 40,000 are personal favorites of mine, miniature hobbying has been a part of my life for around 18 years, from when my grandad gave me my first miniature. I have always found the building and painting process extremely meditative. I am also an avid gamer, and military aviation enthusiast, with the Bournemouth air show being one of my favorite weekends of the year.
