Data protection legislation came into force in May 2018 which aims to protect people’s privacy further. The law applies to all public bodies, businesses and other organisations that process personal data. The legislation comprises the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which came into force on 25th May 2018 and the new Data Protection Act (DPA) 2018 which came into force at the same time. This will provide a single regulation across the European Union (EU) and be adapted for use in the UK and place obligations on organisations that operate outside of the EU but provide goods or services to EU and UK citizens.
Quantum Chiropractic Ltd T/A Life Balance Chiropractic places a high importance on information security. Quantum Chiropractic Ltd T/A Life Balance Chiropractic has been focused on completing preparatory work and has achieved EU & UK GDPR compliance. Supporting our work so far has been Fortis DPC Limited.
1. Our GDPR Principles
- We will process all personal data fairly and lawfully.
- We will only process personal data for specified and lawful purposes.
- We will endeavor to hold relevant and accurate personal data, and where practical, we will keep it up to date.
- We will not keep personal data for longer than is necessary.
- We will keep all personal data secure.
- We will endeavor to ensure that personal data is not transferred to countries outside of the European Economic Area (EEA) without adequate protection.
2. GDPR Compliance
Quantum Chiropractic Ltd T/A Life Balance Chiropractic is committed to GDPR compliance as a controller and processor of data. We have implemented a program of works to meet legislative requirements, collaborating with suppliers and partners to ensure their compliance. Our actions include:
- Providing GDPR awareness and training to employees, including new hires after May 25, 2018.
- Identifying and ensuring compliance of suppliers processing personal data.
- Implementing relevant policies and practices to protect data of employees, customers, suppliers, partners, and stakeholders.
3. Our GDPR Actions to Date
- Maintaining a log of GDPR compliance work for scrutiny.
- Conducting a gap analysis of business processes involving personal data.
- Reviewing and updating policies, including Data Protection Policy and Data Subject Access Requests Policy.
- Updating the privacy policy on the website to incorporate GDPR obligations.
- Introducing mechanisms to identify and report potential personal data breaches within 72 hours.
- Systematic review of personal data processes.
- Assessing lawful bases for data processing.
- Conducting legitimate interest assessments where applicable.
- Data mapping of all processes involving personal data.
- Providing GDPR training to employees and raising awareness of individual responsibilities.
- Continuously improving systems and procedures to better comply with GDPR best practices.
- Monitoring GDPR plans.
