Based on 118 reviewsPosted on Google Tracey ColquhounDecember 30, 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Life Balance is a wonderful haven in the heart of Poole providing excellent Chiropractic care and an atmosphere of calm and tranquility through its dedicated, skilled practitioners and lovely front of house team. I have suffered with my back (and neck) for many years and, after a painful flare up, my sister suggested I try a chiropractor. I found Life Balance online and they were offering a free first consultation. I had very little knowledge of what to expect from chiropractic care but, under the guidance and capable hands of Olivia, my symptoms have greatly improved. She is a highly skilled practitioner who immediately set me at ease with her calm, friendly and open manner. During our first consultation, she clearly explained everything so that it made sense to me. Before I went, I hadn’t fully understood how my neck tensions also impact on some of the pain I had been feeling and this has been a true revelation. After my appointments, I have really noticed the changes. and go home feeling calm, relaxed and well adjusted. My back and neck feel stronger and symptoms of IBS have eased. I feel very safe in the hands of Olivia and also Harrison and Josh who have seem me when I have had to change appointments. I must also mention the wonderful receptionists/front of house team. They are so very helpful and always give a warm welcome when I arrive. I live in Swanage and signed up, in advance, for a 12 week, twice weekly programme. With life, family and other commitments this has been difficult to juggle at times but I know I can call up and will find a friendly voice at the end of the line. They are always helpful and happy to find alternative appointments so that I have successfully been able to complete these initial 12 weeks. Thank you to the whole team at Life Balance for looking after me so well. Can highly recommend.Posted on Google oldskoolfreestylerDecember 24, 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Hello ,for introductions my Names Paul Before i started seeing Life Balance i had been struggling with sciatica for about 30 years on & off. This last time was different & i was in incredible pain, ( i was nearly passing out ) I couldn't sit, stand, walk, work & lastly toilet (no2) my wife had to wash & dress me at 56 years old ! I lost all independence while normally im a active person from work, diy to keeping fit & working out, basically i was living on my front room floor as bed was too uncomfortable, it hit me hard & needed to do something asap, & im sure i wouldve had to wait weeks/months to be sorted with the NHS. I live 100 yards from Life Balance and on my initial consultation it took me 20 minutes to walk there ! But once i was there, i was greeted by a very friendly team & couldn't do enough to help. I had a exam & a x-ray & went back the following work day to discuss what was found wrong, ( 7 faults in my spine & neck) a treatment plan was arranged & my first adjustment with Dr Josh. Immediately i felt a big improvement, & my progress since that first adjustment is amazingly quick, i have a 3 month care plan, i have done 1 month & i returned to work after my second adjustment, i went from bedbound to back to work in 1 week ! thats not what you get on the NHS !! Something i didnt expect was my tastebuds started working better, no feeling of bloated after eating & shortness of breath & chest palpitations disapeared. These guys n girls are brilliant ! I have been seen & worked on by Dr Josh, Dr Olivia & the masseur Jo, so far i cant thank them enough for what & how quickly they have got me back on my feet, i have 2 more months of treatment to do & im sure im going to be better than i was 30 years ago when they are finished with me :-) If you are at all unsure about chiro treatment, i am living proof that these guys are amazing & know exactly what they are doing, id very highly recommend them to help with what you are suffering with, if there was such thing as a 6 star rating they would have my every one. I have also recommended my mum go see them as she has had back problems since the mid 80,s, this is being arranged with her & life balance as we speak. 5 stars and more .... thanks guysPosted on Google Linda StonemanNovember 18, 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had been suffering extremely painful sciatica. A friend said try seeing a Chiropractor. I noticed a special offer at Life Balance Chiropractic for initial assessment and X-rays. I saw Harrison who was very thorough. He outlined my care plan based on questions he asked me and also X-ray results. However the conservation seemed to go very quickly into the pricing options. I had adjustments three times a week. After most adjustments I felt relief, but that didn’t last. I appreciate it’s not a quick fix. After some time there was some improvement, less pain and sleeping better. After a further assessment it was recommended I have some sports massages. Jo gave me the massages. Again the cost options were given quite quickly. However I did book some massages and felt better after those too. Both Harrison and Jo were very polite and professional with what they do. Outside treatment from Life Balance I started aqua aerobics twice a week and this helped me quite a bit. So I tapered off my treatment. I must admit I did feel a little pressured to continue treatment, albeit less regular. The reason for my 4 stars was the marketing method, I felt it was a bit pressured/hard sell. A comprehensive re-report but then very quickly into cost and options. Maybe the marketing method could be tweaked? Maybe discussing payment options or a price list before the assessments, so no put you on spot to make a decision at that assessment. Maybe further special offer/allowance on top of their three pricing levels. As mentioned my treatment was beneficial and Harrison, Jo and all the staff were very pleasant and professional.Posted on Google Diane BinghamNovember 16, 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Excellent Professional Care I have experienced episodes of debilitating lower back pain for many years, but as I was usually able to self-heal with rest, hot/cold therapy and painkillers, I didn’t seek professional help. However, in recent years such episodes began to occur more frequently and on the most recent occasion did not respond to self-care. I live in Poole and had often noticed the signs outside Life Balance when I walked past. I was in a lot of pain when I decided to go through the door a few weeks ago, but was immediately greeted with sympathy by the lovely front of house staff and given an urgent appointment. A full assessment and consultation with chiropractor Harrison, including X-rays, to diagnose the issues, was followed by a suggested treatment plan and anticipated time frame. Since then, twice weekly adjustments by Harrison, combined with a few 30-minute massage sessions from therapist Jo, have resulted in me being pain-free. I am also now following a prescribed exercise plan at home and am much more aware of how to care for my back in the future and hopefully prevent further problems. The professional and knowledgeable care provided by Harrison, Jo and the wider friendly support team (particularly Gail, Hope and Yasmin) has been excellent and I would definitely recommend Life Balance Chiropractic.Posted on Google Emily GarnerNovember 15, 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I wanted to take a moment to thank both of the wonderful chiropractors who have been looking after me for 3 weeks now - Dr. Harrison and Dr. Olivia. Both of these chiropractors are very clearly highly skilled, but also have great interpersonal skills and have helped me massively in gaining confidence with chiropractic care. Before my first session I was really nervous for the experience - I was worried that it would hurt or that I would be damaged further. Both of these concerns have been completely quelled in their care, and I now look forward to my sessions and to the relief that I know each adjustment brings me. I was also apprehensive before starting care of the costs involved, but if I had known three weeks ago that I'd have progressed so much already, I'd have given any amount of money in order to be pain-free. I can't wait to complete my initial 12 weeks and see how I'm feeling then. Thank you Dr. Olivia and Dr. Harrison, and all the wonderful administrative staff who are unbelievably helpful and welcoming. EmilyPosted on Google SaNovember 10, 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had an excellent experience at this centre! Under Dr Olivia's care, I saw significant improvement in my spine, neck, and shoulder pain after the sessions. Dr Olivia is professional, attentive, and creates a comfortable, supportive environment for treatment. The reception staff are also very friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better from the moment you arrive. The centre also provides private rooms, ensuring additional privacy and comfort for patients. I highly recommend this centre, especially with Dr Olivia's expertise. Many thanks to everyone who contributed to my recovery.Posted on Google Katyia JohnsonNovember 8, 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I walked into the centre after seeing an offer online and my partner making me. I was in so much pain through my neck and back, I wasn't sleeping, I was snoring therefore reducing my partners sleep, daily headaches and reduced to tears each day because of it, all the pain became unbearable. After my in depth consultation to review everything and Xrays taken. I felt very relaxed and hopeful they could help me, the next day we reviewed my Xrays and clearly saw the reason why I was having the issues, we then agreed a set of sessions for a price which we paid in full however lots of options to choose from. The 1st adjustments will stay with me forever, what an experience, when my upper neck was adjusted it was like a tap opening and everything that had been held within me for 30+ years came flooding through my body, it was overwhelming, emotional and absolutely what I needed, they were so kind and patient with me, I was very lightheaded as it was a big adjustment which they suggested I could lie in their dark room or take as long as I needed which I was extremely grateful for. They set the expectation that some adjustments can be alot and to try and rest where others would feel great straight away, it's a journey and one I'm utterly thankful for. Dr Olivia Martin and the whole team go above and beyond, they even got me a beautiful card and flowers at the anniversary of my sons passing, they didnt need to but they did and it's that which sets them apart from the rest. They really do care! I highly recommend Dr Olivia Martin and all the Team at Life Balance Chiro in Poole, i'm now without pain and happier, back to living again.Posted on Google valerie hillNovember 7, 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Here is my honest review of life Balance Chiropratic in Poole. I had been suffering for months with chronic lower back pain and a tingling sensation on my forearm, which I had been to my own Doctor several times before , they said it was a trapped nerve in my elbow, but there was no treatment other than keeping it straight!. So when I saw an introductory offer on Facebook for a spinal health check I decided to make an appointment, because I thought there must be something causing this terrible pain in my back where after sitting down, I could hardly stand up and move without terrible pain. My appointment was with Dr Olivia so, on the 3rd Oct 2024, when I arrived at the clinic the two receptionist were so lovely and friendly I immediately I felt at ease, I was called in to see Olivia, who is also so lovely, (you just immediately feel relaxed) she asked me a few questions and examined my neck and Spine, I had an xray there and then, which I was grateful for at least I would be able to see for myself if there was anything causing me this pain. I was told to come back the next day for my results and to take someone with me if possible, so my husband came with me and so glad he did, Olivia showed me what my spine should look like, then showed me my xray, we were shocked it was in a terrible state and no wonder I was in so much pain. If I had left it any longer I would of needed an operation. I am so thankful that Olivia said that with adjustments it should improve, but it was going to be quite a long process, not an overnight fix . Well so far I have had 10 adjustments and 2 deep tissue massages and I already can feel the difference, I can get up from sitting with no pain at all, I sleep better, my whole life has improved, I can walk 10,000 steps again In a day ( not every day yet lol but i am getting there) the tingling on my forearm has almost gone, my jaw that has clicked for the last 41 years is cured, I have no headaches now! I didn't realise your spine, controls so many other vital parts of your body. I still have a way to go but I know I'm now going In the right direction, thanks to Dr Oliva at life balance Poole. Please don't suffer in silence and get to the stage where your thinking I have to just put up with it, and your quality of life is affected like I did, just make that appointment with Dr Olivia at Life Balance poole. Have been visiting this Chiropractor for a few weeks now and I cant fault them. All the staff from the front desk to the Chiropractors are absolutely lovely. All welcoming and friendly, they take the time to get to know you as a person and you are treated as an individual. From the initial consultation through to now, I have had clear, consistent contact and communication. Everything was explained perfectly and in detail, checking regularly that I had complete understanding of everything discussed and being planned. They are flexible and accommodating and I love that if needs be, you can be seen by any of the other chiropractors, and they know exactly what your journey has been and what you're there for! Would highly, highly recommend this practice to anyone considering going to a Chiropractor!Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust. HIP PAIN FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Where can I find hip pain treatment near me in Poole?
If you are searching for hip pain treatment near me in Poole, the best place to start is with a clinic that looks beyond the painful area and assesses how your hip, pelvis, lower back, posture, and movement are working together.
Hip pain is not always just a hip problem. Sometimes it is linked to how your body is adapting to stress, load, daily habits, or previous injuries.
At Life Balance Chiropractic in Poole, we help people understand what may be contributing to their hip pain and what their next steps could be. The aim is to help you move better, feel more confident, and make informed choices about your care.
Why does my hip hurt at night?
Hip pain at night can happen for several reasons. It may be linked to pressure on the side of the hip, stiffness, inflammation, muscle tension, lower back irritation, or the position you sleep in.
You may notice it more when:
- lying on the painful side
- turning over in bed
- lying still for a long time
- getting up first thing in the morning
Night pain can feel worrying, especially if it keeps disturbing your sleep. If it is new, getting worse, or not settling, it is worth getting checked so you can understand what may be causing it.
At Life Balance Chiropractic, we look at how your hip, pelvis, lower back, and nervous system are responding, rather than only focusing on where the pain shows up.
Why does my hip hurt when I walk?
Hip pain when walking can happen when the hip joint, pelvis, lower back, muscles, or surrounding tissues are struggling to cope with load.
You might feel pain in the groin, side of the hip, buttock, front of the thigh, or around the lower back. Sometimes the pain appears quickly. Other times, it builds the longer you walk.
It may be linked to:
- reduced hip mobility
- muscle tension or guarding
- weakness around the hip or pelvis
- changes in walking pattern
- irritation from repeated strain
- compensation from the back, knee, or foot
If you are starting to limp, avoid walking, or change how you move because of pain, that is usually a sign your body needs more support.
Why does my hip hurt after sitting?
Hip pain after sitting is common, especially if the hip feels stiff, tight, or uncomfortable when you first stand up.
This can happen when the hip has been held in one position for too long. Sitting can also increase tension through the hip flexors, glutes, pelvis, or lower back.
You may notice symptoms after:
- driving
- sitting at a desk
- getting up from the sofa
- sitting cross-legged
- long meals or meetings
A little stiffness after sitting can be normal. But if it happens regularly, feels sharp, or affects your walking afterwards, it may be worth having the area assessed.
Can hip pain and lower back pain be connected?
Yes. Hip pain and lower back pain are often connected because the hip, pelvis, and spine work closely together.
If your lower back is stiff or irritated, your hip may have to work harder. If your hip is not moving well, your lower back may start compensating. This can create a cycle where both areas feel uncomfortable.
Some people feel:
- pain in the side of the hip
- pain into the buttock
- groin discomfort
- lower back stiffness
- pain travelling into the thigh
- symptoms that change with sitting, walking, or sleeping
This is why it is important not to assess the hip in isolation. At Life Balance Chiropractic, we look at the wider pattern so you can understand what may be contributing to your symptoms.
Why does my hip hurt after running or exercise?
Hip pain after running or exercise can be a sign that your body is not adapting well to the load you are placing on it.
This does not always mean you have done something serious. It may mean your hip, pelvis, lower back, or surrounding muscles need better support, recovery, or movement control.
Hip pain after running may be linked to:
- training load increasing too quickly
- reduced hip or pelvic stability
- muscle fatigue
- old injuries or compensation patterns
- foot, knee, or lower back mechanics
- not enough recovery between sessions
If hip pain keeps returning after activity, it is better to understand the cause rather than repeatedly resting and restarting.
How can I relieve hip pain while sleeping?
For some people, small changes to sleeping position can reduce hip discomfort.
You may find it helpful to:
- place a pillow between your knees when lying on your side
- avoid lying directly on the painful hip
- try lying on your back with support under your knees
- avoid twisting your pelvis while sleeping
- check whether your mattress feels too firm or too soft
These changes may help calm the area, but they do not always solve the reason the pain is there.
If hip pain is regularly waking you at night or making it hard to sleep, it is sensible to get it checked.
What are the best stretches for morning hip stiffness?
Morning hip stiffness can sometimes improve with gentle movement, but the best exercises depend on why your hip feels stiff in the first place.
Rather than forcing deep stretches, start with calm, easy movement. This may include gentle hip circles, slow walking around the house, light glute activation, or controlled mobility work.
Avoid aggressive stretching if it causes sharp pain, pinching, or symptoms that last afterwards.
At Life Balance Chiropractic, we often find that people need a personalised approach. Some hips need mobility. Some need strength. Some need less irritation and better nervous system regulation before exercise feels comfortable again.
When should I see someone for hip pain?
You should consider getting help for hip pain if it is affecting your walking, sleep, work, exercise, or normal daily activities.
It is also worth booking an assessment if:
- hip pain keeps coming back
- you are limping
- stairs are becoming harder
- sitting or driving triggers pain
- pain wakes you at night
- you have hip and lower back pain together
- symptoms are spreading into the groin, buttock, or thigh
- you feel unsure what movement is safe
You do not need to wait until pain becomes severe. Getting clear early can help you avoid guessing and understand what your body may need next.
What happens at a hip pain treatment appointment in Poole?
At Life Balance Chiropractic in Poole, your first appointment is designed to help you understand what may be contributing to your hip pain.
We will ask about your symptoms, how they started, what makes them better or worse, and how they are affecting your life.
Your assessment may include looking at:
- hip movement
- pelvis and lower back function
- posture and walking patterns
- muscle and nerve function where appropriate
- areas of tension, stiffness, or protection
- whether chiropractic care is suitable for you
We explain everything clearly, without rushing or overcomplicating it. If we think we can help, we will talk you through your options. If we feel you need a different type of support, we will tell you honestly.
