TIPS FOR A HEALTHY AND COMFORTABLE PREGNANCY
Pregnancy is a magical time; you’re providing a safe and comfortable environment for your baby to grow and develop! However, as amazing as that may be, the changes in your body as your baby grows can prove uncomfortable and, in some cases, painful.
To ensure that your pregnancy is the comfortable and enjoyable experience it should be, our team of Pelvic Partnership approved chiropractors have put together a list of tips to help:
Snack regularly
Everyone loves a snack, but did you know that regular grazing on foods such as bananas, whole grains, dried apricots and fresh ginger tea could help to minimise morning sickness? Eating little and often during pregnancy helps to ensure that your blood sure levels don’t drop too low and, as a result, nausea is kept at bay.
Visit a chiropractor
Visiting a chiropractor during pregnancy can help to ensure your spine remains aligned as your baby grows and puts pressure on your pelvis. Ensuring that your spine and pelvis are correctly positioned will help to ensure that your baby has the space he or she needs to grow and develop comfortably.
Our chiropractors are approved by the Pelvic Partnership and are recommended for our outstanding prenatal care as well as aiding the symptoms of Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP).
Maintain your exercise regime
If you exercise regularly, pregnancy is no reason for you to stop! Whilst you may need to make slight adjustments to your routine in order to accommodate the bundle of joy growing inside of you, exercise during pregnancy is in fact very important for your own health as well as your baby’s.
Sleep on your left side
During pregnancy mum’s-to-be often find sleeping positions a struggle; did you know that sleeping on your left side allows an increase in the amount of blood and nutrients to your baby via the placenta? If sleeping on your left side is comfortable for you, we recommend placing a pillow between your knees to avoid twisting of the pelvis.
