Is sleep affecting you?
Have you noticed any significant changes in your sleep ? Did you know that sleep can be affected by many things?
Our brains are stimulated by light and sound and so things like watching tv and scrolling on your mobile phone can affect the way you sleep. Turning the tv off or putting your phone down half an hour before going to bed can help you get off to a great night’s sleep. Extra tip: Turn your tablet or phone onto night mode in the evenings to avoid over stimulating your brain and get you in to a restful state of mind.
As you are probably aware, eating before bed can cause bigger problems than hunger pangs – problems like insomnia, heartburn, digestive difficulties and bathroom runs. So if you make late-night fridge raids a habit, you’ll probably notice weight gain as well.
Scented candles and diffusers are always a great hack to a good night’s sleep too! By using lavender scents and other aromatherapy before going to bed you can encourage a calming state to get you into a better nights’ sleep.
There is a wide variety of holistic therapies over the years to help with sleep, from hypnotherapy to acupuncture. I personally have tried many of these therapies and have noticed the positive effects, specifically, from chiropractic treatment when it comes to a good night sleep. I feel fresher and more awake and am now able to concentrate throughout the day without brain fog.
Lastly, getting yourself into a calm place before going to bed can really help to send you off. You could try meditation, mindfulness, slow, deep breathing or one of many apps dedicated to giving you some headspace.
So to recap:
- Turn you tv off at least half an hour before sleep,
- Don’t eat too late,
- Reduce mobile device usage and apply blue light filter/ night mode,
- Get into a state of calm,
- Get adjusted,
- Breathe deeply
And have a great night sleep!!
